A veteran of almost three decades in Congress, Gerald Ford was elevated to the Presidency at a critical juncture in the life of our country. President Ford discusses the War Powers Resolution and other Congressional limitation on Presidential power, the personal qualities of a President, limitations of Presidential terms of office, the threat of assassination, and the difficulties that confront the legislative branch. The subject of Presidential decision-making is discussed in the context of the pardon of Richard Nixon, the seizure of the Mayaguez, the summit meeting at Vladivostok, and other events in the Ford Presidency.
