With an eclectic cast that includes Pablo Picasso, Jean-Pierre Leeud, Jean Marais and Yul Brynner, Testament of Orpheus (Le Testament de Orphie) brings full circle the journey Cocteau began in The Blood of a Poet, an exploration of the torturous relationship between the artist and his creations. Criterion is proud to present the last installment of the Orphic Trilogy in a new digital transfer.
Testament of Orpheus is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. This new digital transfer was created from the 35mm fine-grain master positive. The sound was mastered from a 35mm magnetic soundtrack. The sound was also carefully restored, using digital tools to minimize such audio artifacts as film pops, clicks, hums, crackle, and hiss. Telecine supervisor: Brigitte Dutray for Canal +; Telecine colorist: Jean-Marc Moreau/Vdm, Paris; Audio restoration: Ken Hansen, Heather Shaw
