this is a more serious take on the zombie concept. straight up haitian voodoo zombification.

a drama about a man on the search for the recipe in hopes of bringing it back to an american medical industry. he of course has a hard time getting it and meets some strange characters along the way...and of course a love interest to. ultimately exposed to the process and lost in the surreal world of zombies and rituals. will he survive? you'll guess most of what will happen, despite that its still a good watch.

i first saw this when it came out. i was a kid then and it seemed to envelope me and entrance me. it became one of my favorite films yet i never saw it again until just last year (2008) and i was surprised that it seemed much more like the comedies from the 1980's than it did the overwhelming intense experience i had remembered. it was almost sad to me. it hasn't held up to what it was when it came out. it is still better than most movies, and leaves a good impression.
