Oliver Twist is one of author Charles Dickens' most famous novels, and has been considered a classic ever since it was published. This classic b&w film stars Dickie Moore (mislabled as Jackie Moore) as Oliver, and tells the story of a boy growing up on the rough and cruel streets of London. The film uses the characters and story to make a strong social comment, attacking society's methods of dealing with the poor. While not offering a solution for the deep injustices and indignities suffered by our poor, the film does suggest that people are good at heart, though the best impulses can still be distorted by greed.
