Description:
Directed by Zhang Yimou, the movie begins when Mr. Gao, a teacher in Xiao Quan primary school, wants to go home to see his sick mother. The head of the neighboring village asks Wei Minzhi to take care of the students in place of Mr. Gao during his leave. Wei Minzhi requires the students to copy the articles of the text every day and she also takes the roll of the students every day, as not a single student is supposed to be absent from the class.
