Description: Emmy Award-winning journalist, Delaine Mathieu, co-anchors News 4 San Antonio at 5 p.m. weekdays with Randy Beamer. Delaine comes to San Antonio from Miami where she co-anchored the top-rated morning and noon newscasts at WSVN. During her time there, she covered some of the nation's biggest news stories including the Elian Gonzalez saga, the 2000 Presidential Election debacle, the September 11th attacks, and the deadly 2004 hurricane season. Delaine has received several awards, including four Emmy's, for her investigative reporting. Delaine comes to San Antonio from Miami where she co-anchored the top-rated morning and noon newscasts at WSVN. During her time there, she covered some of the nation's biggest news stories including the Elian Gonzalez saga, the 2000 Presidential Election debacle, the September 11th attacks, and the deadly 2004 hurricane season.

Delaine has received several awards, including four Emmy's, for her investigative reporting. Since she's been with News 4 San Antonio, Delaine has been nominated for 10 Emmy's and has won three Texas Associated Press awards for her reporting and anchoring. In 2009, one of her reports about a rotating bed used to help save H1N1 patients was featured on the NBC show, "The Doctors."

Delaine is passionate about news, but even more so about children. She served on the board for ChildSafe, a comprehensive clinic that helps young victims of physical and sexual abuse in the San Antonio area. She is determined to raise awareness about San Antonio's child abuse problem. Her blog, Hell Is For Children, garnered national attention.

During Delaine's senior year at the University of Texas at Austin, she was chosen for an internship at CNN's Washington D.C. Bureau. She also interned at News 4 San Antonio. She landed her first job at KRBC in Abilene, then KEYE in Austin where she won a Best Reporting award from the Texas Association of Broadcasters. She also picked up a Best Anchor nomination from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters during her time at KAKE in Wichita, Kansas.

Most people don't know this, but Delaine is half Venezuelan. Her mother is from Caracas, Venezuela.

Delaine is also an avid heath and fitness enthusiast. She has run two half-marathons, several obstacle course races and enjoys weight-lifting. She and her husband, Shad, have two daughters and are thrilled to call San Antonio home.
