He is the oldest of five children. He was raised in an athletic family, and represented Manitoba in three Fast-pitch National Championships. Enjoys hockey, golf, football and tennis.
Graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1995 with a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in English and Dramatic Arts.
Has two sons; Oscar (2005) and Leopold (2008) with wife Nicole.
He played guitar in touring rock band "The Steamin' Muskrats", who once opened for "Blue Rodeo".
