In elementary school, he attended the LŠU for drawing. He learned to play the flute, clarinet and piano. In high school, he played volleyball at a high level. Around the age of eighteen, he finally stopped playing top-level sports due to health problems.

He originally devoted himself to opera singing. He began to guest-star in theaters – he performed on the stages of the J. K. Tyl Theater in Pilsen, the F. X. Šalda Theater in Liberec, the Estates Theater, the Music Theater in Karlín, the North Bohemian Theater in Ústí nad Labem and the National Theater. From 2006 to 2007, he was a member of the National Theater's opera company and performed in the title role of Mozart's opera Don Giovanni and in the musical The Angels. In addition to Don Giovanni, his repertoire includes Escamillo in Carmen, Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, Silvio in The Comedians, Kalina in The Secret and others.
In 1995, he won the audition for the title role in the Czech musical Dracula and became a musical star. In June 1997, his first solo album Daniel Hůlka was released. In 1998, he held his first concert tour called Mission. In 1999, he played his first film role, King Brambas in Zdeněk Troška's film fairy tale From Hell. In December of the same year, he traveled as a member of the delegation that delivered the Christmas tree to the Holy Father in the Vatican, and on this occasion sang in St. Peter's Square. From December 13, 2000, he began performing in the lead role in the musical Monte Cristo, which was prepared by Karel Svoboda, Zdeněk Borovec and Richard Hes. In 2001 he completed his first tour of the Slovak Republic.
