Christopher Buckley is an American author and political satirist, best known for writing "God Is My Broker", "Thank You for Smoking", "The White House Mess", "No Way to Treat a First Lady", "Florence of Arabia", "Boomsday" and "The Judge Hunter". Buckley also wrote the non-fiction book "Steaming to Bamboola" about his service in the United States Merchant Marine during the Vietnam War. The book recounts his journey on a tramp steamer across the Atlantic in 1970 and the colorful members of the crew he worked with.
