Varinia

Varinia was a Briton slave during the 1st century BC. She was first owned by Lentulus Batiatus, in whose service she met and fell in love with the male slave Spartacus. In 73 BC, she was sold to Marcus Licinius Crassus, causing Spartacus to launch an uprising against Batiatus and start the Third Servile War.
