Tom Ludlow is the main protagonist of Street Kings (2008), portrayed by Keanu Reeves. He is a veteran Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Vice-Special detective who works undercover and uses aggressive, unorthodox methods while operating within a deeply corrupt police environment.
Ludlow is grieving the death of his wife and has become increasingly hardened by his years as a police officer. After his former partner, Detective Terrence Washington, is killed, evidence begins to implicate Ludlow, forcing him to investigate the circumstances surrounding Washington's death and confront corruption within his own unit.
He eventually works with Detective Paul “Disco” Diskant and discovers that the corruption extends beyond the street criminals he normally investigates. His actions throughout the film are morally complicated, combining police work and a willingness to use lethal and extralegal methods. Sources commonly describe him as an antihero as well as a police protagonist.
