Skarlet is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. She made her debut in Mortal Kombat (2011) as a Downloadable Character (DLC). Before that, however, she was a subject of fan speculation that began with rumors of a glitch in Mortal Kombat II.

Originating in the Outworld, Skarlet is characterized in the series as both the adopted daughter and personal bodyguard of Emperor Shao Kahn. Originally seen as an outcast on Outworld, Skarlet was saved at a young age by Kahn, who then took it upon himself to instruct and empower her in the ways of Blood Magik (after recognizing her true potential).
