Shriek is a criminally insane supervillainess and an enemy of Spider-Man .

Shriek was incarcerated in the criminal mental hospital, Ravencroft, when Carnage caused a mass breakout. Upon seeing their mutual psychopathic sadism, the two "fell in love" and teamed up, and went on a killing spree. They also teamed up with three other homicidal villains, Demogoblin, Carrion, and Doppleganger, forming a "family". They were, however, stopped by Spider-Man, Venom, and Black Cat. Shriek has since tried escaping Ravencroft several times, each time battling Spider-Man.

Shriek has the ability to emit a powerful sonic scream, and the empathic power to release dark feelings such as fear and hate in others. She also has minor telekinetic abilities. It is unknown where she got her powers, but it is possible that she is a mutant.
