Rick Taylor is the protagonist of the Splatterhouse video game series. He starts as an ordinary college student who, along with his girlfriend Jennifer, visits the ominous West Mansion. When they’re attacked by monstrous entities, Jennifer is kidnapped, and Rick is left for dead. However, he is revived by the Terror Mask, a mysterious, sentient mask that grants him superhuman strength and a monstrous appearance, resembling a hulking slasher villain.

Fueled by rage and desperation, Rick battles through grotesque creatures and nightmarish horrors to rescue Jennifer. As the series progresses, Rick's connection to the Terror Mask deepens, blurring the lines between hero and monster. The 2010 Splatterhouse reboot further expands on Rick’s internal struggle, showing how the mask manipulates him while pushing him to his limits.

He’s essentially a blend of classic horror tropes, resembling a mix between Jason Voorhees and Lovecraftian horror, making him a brutal, tragic anti-hero.
