Olmo

Olmo is a character invented and played by the comedian Fabio De Luigi: the part is that of a self-styled singer and he appeared towards the end of the nineties on the television show Mai dire Gol.
Of the many characters played by De Luigi, this is one of the most successful. Equipped with precise, caricatural body movements (inspired by Alan Williams, lead singer of the English group The Rubettes), the character mimicked a budding singer who posed as a music star and womanizer, taking various liberties in his interactions with the other characters (such as the Mago Forest).

According to the performer himself, there were three traits, or rather gestures, that characterized the character:

- a strikingly limping and shambling walk that ended, at the moment of greeting the presenter, with a raised leg imitating a dog urinating;
- a semi-spin performed by crossing the legs and then quickly straightening the pelvis;
- the start for the orchestra, given by furiously stamping the foot on the ground after raising the leg almost to shoulder height.
