Lydia Tár
Lydia Tár is many things.
As a conductor, Tár began her career with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra until she had, at last, arrived at the New York Philharmonic. In 2013, Berlin elected Tár as its principal conductor and she’s remained there ever since.
Lydia Tár has also written music for the stage and screen. She is one of only 15 EGOTs, meaning those who have won all four major entertainment awards.
Since 2022, Lydia has stepped away from the Berliner Philharmoniker to spend more time with her partner Sharon and daughter Petra. Her self-published book Tár on Tár: Composition is available for pre-order now.
