Karim Farouk is a character on Blood & Treasure. He is played by James Callis.
Karim is the illegitimate son of Zara Farouk, a local Egyptian guide, and Jacob Reece III, a wealthy American antiquities enthusiast who abandoned Karim and his mother to a life of poverty in a Cairo slum where they were both shamed, and Karim was frequently beaten up by other boys. Zara used Reece's hush money to send her son to boarding school in England, but there Karim suffered further bullying at the hands of rich British children. He was pressured to give up his Egyptian culture, learn to speak English, adopt a posh accent, and assume the name Simon Hardwick.
Eventually, Zara was exposed to a rare mycotoxin from exploring old tombs. Simon tried to get her better medical care by going to Reece, but was turned away and had to watch his mother suffer a slow, painful death. This sealed his thirst for vengeance against his father and the upper crust of both East and West who abandoned and beat them. After a chance meeting with terrorist Rasheed Hegazi, Simon leveraged his archaeology expertise into becoming an antiquities trafficker to finance his plans.
