Ingegner Cane

Engineer Cane is a fictional character played by Fabio De Luigi on the show Mai dire domenica, making his first appearance in the 2002/2003 season. The character is a caricature of a professional dedicated to the inconclusive completion of various infrastructure projects, usually expensive and poorly constructed, which he himself extols and brings to fruition in his own less-than-perfect style. Among the character's most coveted projects is the construction of the bridge over the Strait of Messina. In one episode, it's revealed that Engineer Cane not only doesn't have a degree in engineering, but he doesn't even have any other qualifications: "Engineer" is, in fact, simply his given name. In his early appearances, he uses a natural voice, later adopting a higher pitch.
