Greg Goldberg
Greg Goldberg is a supporting character in The Mighty Ducks trilogy. He is portrayed by Shaun Weiss.
Goldberg is the Ducks' original goalie and wears the number 33. Originally from Philadelphia, Goldberg is known for his flatulence and love of food. When first introduced, he was terrified of the puck coming toward him and often took cover instead of blocking the incoming puck.
In the first film Goldberg is shown to be a very slow, scared, and lazy goaltender. After overcoming his fear of pucks hitting him, he improves a lot. He is less skilled in net than Julie Gaffney, but is better at stick handling whereas Gaffney has the faster glove. However, he does not train during team off-seasons.
Throughout the series, Goldberg is shown to be a butterfly style goaltender, often resorting to pad and body stops rather than glove. This contrasts with his teammate and fellow goaltender, Julie Gaffney, who primarily uses stand-up style. Goldberg has also shown that he can be very vulnerable if pressured too much by opposing offenses.
In the third film, he goes from goaltender to defenseman. In his defensive role, Goldberg uses his size to his advantage, often overwhelming opposing team players.
