Ganer Bateson

Ganer Bateson is a non-playable character who appears in Breath of Fire II. He is the father of Ryu and Yua Bateson and the husband of Valerie McCarran. He serves as the religious and spiritual leader to the rural community of Gate until he is abducted by the demon Habaruku. Despite being a member of the St. Eva Church, Ganer is shown to be very open-minded to other religious ideas and philosophies, as evidenced when he prays at the dragon god altar with Valerie. He is depicted as genuinely believing in and striving to live the principles he preaches, in stark contrast to the the false priests that take over the religion after the passageway to Infinity is opened and Habaruku emerges into the surface world.
