Eugene Onegin
Eugene Onegin, fictional character who is the protagonist of Aleksandr Pushkinโs masterpiece Eugene Onegin (1833). Onegin is the original superfluous man, a character type common in 19th-century Russian literature. He is a disillusioned aristocrat who is drawn into tragic situations through his inability or unwillingness to take positive action to prevent them.
