Eskarina Smith is a character in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. She is the daughter of a blacksmith, and the eighth child of an eighth child. Believing her to be the eighth son of an eighth son and therefore a wizard, Drum Billet, a wizard from Unseen University, travelled to the Ramtops and left his staff to her.

As a child, she showed great magical potential and was trained to become a witch by Granny Weatherwax until it became clear that she had Wizards' magic, not Witches' magic, so she went to Unseen University to become a wizard. However, Unseen University only accepted male students, believing that females should stick to being witches, so she was rejected and initially took a job as a servant.
