Elphaba Thropp, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West, is the titular main protagonist of the 1995 fantasy novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and its the 2003 Broadway musical adaptation Wicked. Wicked is a prequel to the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, where Elphaba; known as the "Wicked Witch of the West", was portrayed; by Margaret Hamilton.

She is portrayed by Cynthia Erivo in the 2024 film adaption and will return in the sequel Wicked Part Two. In the musical, she was played by Idina Menzel; who also portrayed Vivian in Cinderella.
