David "Mac" Mackay

David "Mac" Mackay is one of the main characters, as well as the longest-serving character, of the Australian police drama television series Homicide, played by Leonard Teale. He appeared in 358 episides from 1965 to 1974, before returning for the final episode in 1977.
He is an Inspector (formerly Senior Detective, Detective Sergeant, and Detective Senior Sergeant) of Victoria Police, the commanding officer of the Ballarat Police, and a former member of the Homicide unit.
