25 Damian Wayne

Posted : 1 year, 11 months ago on 2 June 2022 07:38

As much as Tim Drake and Dick Grayson have become like sons to Bruce Wayne, there's only one true son of Batman. Damian exploded onto the scene in 2006 as part of Grant Morrison's Batman run (See it on Amazon). By the end, he had proven himself worthy of the Robin mantle despite his prickly, arrogant personality. Many consider him to be the greatest Robin of them all. Though Damian heroically sacrificed himself in battle, he now lives again and has set about carving a reputation outside his father's shadow.

An average movie

For some reasons I don’t fully grasp, I always had a hard time with this movie but maybe I should give it a 2nd chance. I mean, the movie had a decent reputation and, on paper, it sounded pretty good. Eventually, I did like the mood which was very much in a film noir style. Unfortunately, very soon, I thought the whole story became rather ridiculous. First of all, the whole concept of a gangster hiring a ex-US football player to find his girlfriend was already rather preposterous to start with. I mean, at some point, the whole thing started to look more like some sort of romantic soap opera than a slick film noire, at least, that’s my opinion. I was surprised to discover that this flick was in fact a remake of ‘Out of the Past’, easily one of the best film noirs ever made and while it wasn’t necessarily a bad idea to make a modern version of this classic, it still think it was a really misguided choice to replace a private investigators with a ex-football player. Anyway, to conclude, the whole thing had some potential but I thought it was actually pretty weak and I don’t think it is really worth a look.
