Borgnine

Lieutenant "Skipper" Borgnie was a volunteer on a mission to attempt to regain contact with Moon Base Luna. He was in command of Command Shuttle 2, and contacted Command Shuttle 1 after taking flight. He was surprised by Dana Sterling, who was taking the G-Forces of leaving the Earth very poorly, before he had to go back to controlling the ship.

Much to Borgnie's dismay, the shuttle soon developed an Engine-Mass-Overload, which caused the shuttle to speed out of control and collide with space-degree, causing it to be destroyed.
