Born to parents who owned two hair salons, Caroline Roux was the youngest of three children (two older brothers) [ 2 ] . She grew up in Grenoble [ 3 ] and became a regional competitive skier [ 4 ] .
She graduated from the Grenoble Institute of Political Studies [ 2 ] in 1991, then from the Marseille School of Journalism in 1993 [ 1 ] .
Career in the media
She started at Europe 1 and was taken under the wing of the station's president, Jérôme Bellay [ 4 ] . After nine years spent in the radio's political department, she moved to television and in 2005 became a columnist on the show Nous ne sommes pas des anges presented by Maïtena Biraben on Canal+ [ 4 ] .
Then, fromSeptember 2006hasSeptember 2012Every morning she produces a column and a ten-minute interview with a political guest on Canal+'s La Matinale . FromSeptember 2008, she also presents the show, replacing Maïtena Biraben during her absences.
From this date, she also presents the magazine Planète Société on the Planète+ channel . She also offers D'ici demain , every Wednesday on the same channel, where she gives the floor to experts after broadcasting documentaries .
In 2011, Caroline Roux hosted the show Bonsoir monsieur le Président with Bruce Toussaint on the Jimmy channel . This show simulated the first presidential interview of various candidates such as Marine Le Pen , Nicolas Dupont-Aignan , Hervé Morin and Manuel Valls [ 5 ] .
The same year, she became the presenter of La Matinale on Canal+ every Friday.September 2012, she left the channel to join the morning show on Europe 1 and thus meet up with Bruce Toussaint, with whom she had already worked on Canal+ before [ 6 ] .
From 2012 to 2016 [ 7 ] , she replaced Géraldine Muhlmann in presenting C politique , every Sunday at 6 p.m. , on France 5 .
FromSeptember 2013, in parallel with C politique , she presents every Friday (originally, every Monday), the news and debate magazine C dans l'air on France 5 [ 8 ] as a joker for Yves Calvi .
From 2013 to 2015, she presented her column “Political Secrets” on Thomas Sotto ’s Europe 1 morning show .
In 2015 and 2016, she presented “L'interview découverte” on Europe 1 every morning on Europe 1 Matin after the 9 o'clock news .
Since the start of the 2016 school year, she has hosted the political interview Les Quatre Vérités , from Monday to Thursday at 7:40 a.m. , on Télématin on France 2 [ 9 ] .
During the same year, following the departure of Yves Calvi, Caroline Roux completely took over the presentation of the France 5 program C dans l'air from Monday to Thursday, while Bruce Toussaint presented it on Friday and Saturday and replaced her occasionally [ 10 ] . EndAugust 2018, following the departure of Bruce Toussaint for BFM TV , she is joined by Axel de Tarlé (himself replaced by Mélanie Taravant on C à dire ?! ) , who takes over the Friday and Saturday slot on C dans l'air . Hosted by Caroline Roux, the show C dans l'air frequently sets audience records, recording its best score since the show's creation for the year 2016-2017, with an average of 1.5 million viewers and a 12.7% audience share [ref. needed] .
Since 2018, Caroline Roux has also directed a collection of documentaries under the brand C dans l'air , in which her interviews with personalities and experts serve as a common thread for the subjects covered. Terrorism: the French response broadcast onMarch 28, 2018and Europe: the populist temptation broadcast onMarch 19, 2019are the first two volumes of this collection offered by France 5 in prime time.
THEJuly 14, 2022, she interviews, with Anne-Claire Coudray , the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron . InOctober 2022, she speaks alone with the head of state in L'Événement , the new political program on France 2 [ 11 ] .
In June 2025, she refused to succeed Anne-Sophie Lapix on the 8 p.m. news on France 2 , preferring to devote herself to presenting C dans l'air , which she considered a public service program [ 12 ] .
Privacy
She is married to Laurent Solly (former chief of staff of Nicolas Sarkozy during the presidency of the UMP in 2005 and then during the 2007 campaign, and head of Facebook France since 2013), with whom she has a son, Marceau, born in 2009 [ 2 ] , [ 13 ] . She is also the mother of a daughter, Rosalie, born in 2004 from a previous union [ 14 ] .
