Calder Willingham was an American novelist and screenwriter. He wrote screenplays for several highly acclaimed films such as "Paths of Glory" (1957), "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957) (uncredited), "Spartacus" (1960) (uncredited), "One-Eyed Jacks" (1961), "The Graduate" (1967), "Little Big Man" (1970), "Thieves Like Us" (1974) and "Rambling Rose" (1991). After dropping out of The Citadel, Willingham served with the Office of War Information during World War II.
