Stalin: Tyrant or Statesman?
During his leadership, Stalin was the farsighted statesman who recognized the foreign dangers from capitalist imperialism and Nazism and ensured ultimate victory by building an industrial base capable of producing military superiority against the formidable German offensive. We cannot even calculate the human loss as a direct result of his policies but 30-40 million of his own people might be a reasonable guess. Can any end justify these means? The debate continues.
