"19.1. This one made me feel very angry because there really aren't any other novels of Oe's that have been translated into Finnish, so nobody here knows about this stuff. This novel here is something of a mythical story about a village deep in a forest. The main character's aim is to collect and write down its oral history as told by his grandmother and the village elders. The story itself is a mix of both historical and mystical events, the main character goes through great personal struggle "
