The book is about Harry Altman and his brother, Alex, who miss Music Camp registration, and as a result, have to go to Camp Spirit Moon. The campers begin to play increasingly horrific jokes on them. As the jokes are inhumanly possible, there is no way that the campers could have played them while alive, as some involve dismemberment. They later find that the camp is full of ghosts who attempt to enter their bodies so that they can escape the camp.
