The Body of God: An Ecological Theology

This book blows away the last vestiges of anthropocentricism which have plagued Christianity with disastrous consequences for the earth and its creatures. McFague, who teaches at Vanderbilt Divinity School, challenges Christians to an environmental ethic and a planetary agenda that is radically compassionate. She envisions the universe (sun, moon, trees, rivers, animals, and people) as God's body and sees our vocation as helping the earth to prosper. This ecological theology offers a cogent corrective to the ancient hatred of the flesh and the body of the world.
