Description: A Puerto Rican former professional baseball player and musician. Bernie played his entire 16-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the New York Yankees from 1991 through 2006. Born to Bernabé Williams, Sr., a merchant marine, and Rufina Figueroa, a retired principal and college professor, in the Bronx in 1968. A year later, the Williams family moved to Puerto Rico where young Bernie developed into a talented athlete and musician. Bernie has played for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
