Bára Zemanová (1989) has roots in Svojšín, where she lived until she was 16, and her strong connection to nature and her birthplace is reflected in her wild, scorpion-like nature. She discovered her love for singing at the age of 5 with her first Walkman in her ears, and from the age of 6 she attended keyboard and piano lessons, as well as the famous Svojšín drama teacher and later solo singing. Bára studied at the eight-year gymnasium in Stříbr. She enjoyed composing songs and poems from an early age, but as an introvert, she kept everything in a drawer. It was not until she was 14 that she joined the Tachov band Ellement, thanks to a local keyboard player with whom she sang in church. Thanks to Ellement, she tried her first stages, music clubs and competitions, from which she scored, for example, in the Sedmikvítek in Planá or the Prorock competition in the Prague Akropolis. In 2005, Bára won the prestigious Karlovy Vary Nightingale competition and tried out for the silver band Revolever. In 2006, her musician father entered her for Česko hledá SuperStar, where she surprisingly reached the finals and took 4th place. She then recorded her first album Rozjetej vlak under the Sony BMG label, which was produced by musicians from Blue Effect - they had been Bára's musical role models for several years. With the new band line-up and under the name Bára Zemanová & BAND, she went to her first major festivals, celebrations and club concerts. The album Rozjetej vlak received the Album of the Year award in the category of debut albums in 2007, and the same year Bára also won the Skokan of the Year award in the Czech Nightingale poll. From 2007-2009, Bára also performed in the Antigona Rock Opera. On the second album, Magistrál (2009), Bára also co-wrote the song together with Richard Scheufler Jr., who also produced the album. In the same year, Bára also recorded the duet Zamilovaný/Nešťastná with the Kutná Hora band Rybičky 48 or sang alongside Karel Gott at the O2 Arena. Since 2010, Bára has lived in Pilsen, where she returned to study and founded a new line-up of BZ Band, with which she has performed dozens of concerts. These include, for example, the Navostro tour with Rybičky 48 or interesting projects such as "Zemanka v garáži". For several years, Bára also devoted herself to benefit concerts in the Pilsen region and performed with a band for children's homes and social care institutions. Later, she graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Arts of the University of West Bohemia and started a family in 2018. She put her musical activities on hold and in 2023, she returned to the stage with a renewed line-up, released a new single Mayday and continues to devote herself to original music creation. She gradually drew inspiration from bands such as: Guano Apes, Die
Happy, Jimmy Eat World, Linkin Park, P.O.D., Walk Choc Ice, Kollerband, Incubus, Foo
Fighters or Paramore.
