A professional dancer who was brought to Hollywood by her friendship with actress Shirley MacLaine, whom she studied under in New York in the 1950s.
Barbara Lawson studied with Shirley MacLaine in the 1950's and was recommended by her for the part in Visit to a Small Planet. The producers decided to list her as Barbara Lawson, but after this film (1960) she went back to her birth name: Barbara Bostock in Summer Stock productions.
