Alice Miller was born on January 12, 1923 in Poland. She studied philosophy, psychology and sociology in Basel. After completing her doctorate, she completed her training as a psychoanalyst in Zurich and spent 20 years practicing this profession.
In 1980 she gave up her practice and teaching to write. Since then, she has published 13 books introducing the public to the results of her childhood research. She understood her search for the reality of childhood as a sharp contrast to psychoanalysis, which in the old tradition accuses the child and spares the parents.
Alice Miller died on April 14, 2010 at the age of 87.
