Description: A native of Jefferson City, Missouri, Ashley Strohmier graduated the University of Central Missouri in 2012 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While attending school, she was named Miss Missouri USA 2010 in November of 2009. Strohmier also won the swimsuit and photogenic portions of the competition. During her university years, Strohmier worked as the Sales Lead for Victoria's Secret in Jefferson City. Before graduating, she spent a semester with the Missouri House of Representatives—also in Jefferson City—as an Intern for Representative Jeanie Riddle.

While finishing school, Strohmier spent 6 months working for Brent Hemphill & Associates, a Jefferson City lobbying firm. She then moved toward television, spending a few months as Stage Director with Fox Sports.

Strohmier served as a host for the Columbia, Missouri FOX affiliated television station FOX 22, where she broadcasted live on the scene of various news events throughout the state.

She then joined KMIZ-TV (ABC) in Columbia, Missouri in 2013 as a general assignment reporter and anchor covering crime as well as state and local politics. In 2014, Strohmier’s in-depth reporting on the state’s Department of Social Services resulted in lawmakers opening an investigation into the agency’s practices, earning her an award from the Kansas City Press Club.

In 2019, she was awarded by the Missouri Broadcasters Association with the Best News Anchor award in 2019 for her work as an evening news anchor. Throughout her tenure with KMIZ, Strohmier also held additional titles, including as a solo anchor for News This Morning, which she as well produced, anchored, and managed its daily content.

In March 2020, Ashley Strohmeir joined FOX News Channel (FNC) as an overnight anchor and news correspondent.

Strohmier is not yet married but she is in a relationship with Michael Counihan, an American fitness model, a personal trainer, and a law enforcement officer with the NCY Police Department. Michael is a famous bodybuilding icon who has featured in many bodybuilding magazines.
