Golden statue of Maude Adams
This solid gold (14 karat) statue of the famous American actress Maude Adams was created by Bessie Potter in 1900 for the 1900 Paris Exposition, but it was reportedly not admitted there. It was displayed in 1901 at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. Sadly, it was melted down to make golden bullions in the same year.
This statue was 6 ft (1.8288 m) tall (including the golden base), and its mass was 600, 700, or 712 lb (272.155, 317.514, or 322.957 kg; different sources mention different data). The value of this statue with the golden base was $250,000. Note that Maude Adams was 5 ft (1.524 m) tall, and her body mass was 100 lb (45.359 kg).
Small models of this statue were also produced. They are 7.25 in (18.415 cm) tall and are made of an unknown cast metal.
