Born June 11, 1930, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (LaRosa) Colone. Born June 11, 1930, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (LaRosa) Colone. She graduated from Central Catholic School in Fort Wayne in 1947 and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Growing up, she worked at the Family Colone Grocery Store. She was active in local theater, and on civic and government boards. She also made hundreds of public appearances as a Fort Wayne radio and TV personality working at WGL and WANE TV. She was the first female disc jockey and first woman to have a live Monday thru Friday local TV show with celebrity guests and a studio audience. She is best known for her 18 years as host of the Ann Colone Show. Her list of celebrity interviews read like a "Who's Who" from Hollywood to Nashville, Broadway and the halls of Congress. She interviewed all three Kennedys (John, Bobby and Teddy), Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante, Agnes Moorehead (one of her toughest interviews), the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Teddy Savalas, Cary Grant, Joan Crawford, Woody Allen, Tony Randall, Mike Wallace, Walter Cronkite, Joan Rivers, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Ed Asner, Andy Griffith, Jim Nabors, Mary Tyler Moore, Shirley Temple and hundreds more. Among her many awards was the TV-Radio Mirror Magazine Gold Medal for Best TV Women's Interest Show, Best Actress award by Civic Theatre and Silver Medal Award from the advertising club. After her career in radio and television, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Arata Medical Group, Wayne Township Trustee's Office and Fort Wayne License Bureau. She hosted the radio program "Ask The Physician." She volunteered for many years at Parkview Hospital and Veteran's Hospital. Surviving are her sisters, Josephine Cavacini and Virginia (J. Edward) Keefer, both of Fort Wayne and Martha Leto of San Rafael, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, Rose (Hess) Colone and Josephine (Brita) Calabrese. She was also the beloved aunt of 30 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. "Nothing was more important to Ann than her family and friends. She wanted to be remembered for her kindness and caring."
