Amal Awad

Amal Awad is a writer, journalist, author and public speaker. Amal frequently writes and speaks about issues of society, religion and popular culture, and has appeared on and produced documentaries for national radio. A former lawyer, Amal has gone on to study screenwriting, graduating from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 2013. She is the author or two novels, Courting Samira and This Is How You Get Better, and a collection of essays, The Incidental Muslim. Amal was also a contributor to the anthology Coming of Age: Growing up Muslim in Australia (Allen & Unwin, 2014).
