78violet (also known as Aly & AJ) is an American pop rock band consisting of sisters Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka. They were born in Torrance, California, but spent part of their childhood in Seattle, Washington. They are both singer-songwriters, guitarists, and actors. They signed a record deal with Hollywood Records in 2004, but they left in 2010 due to creative reasons with the label and later signed with Violet House Records.
