After performing the National Anthem for the United States Air Force Academy at age 12, Jordan started to attract a ton of attention and was asked to sing at various events, leading to bigger and better opportunities. Jordan cites her opening gig for a concert in 2004 as inspiring. "When I was 12, I opened up for Smokey Robinson at a Stevie Wonder tribute," remembers Alexis. "I sang ‘Ribbon In The Sky' and Stevie was backstage like, ‘You didn't think I heard you singing my song did you?' I didn't know how big of a legend he was but looking back on it now, I can't believe that I did that! It was such a great experience." In between her musical career, Jordan also performed as an actress, taking roles on soap operas and commercials.

Jordan's big break came in 2006, when she auditioned as a contestant for the new Simon Cowell-produced reality-contest program America's Got Talent, which debuted on NBC that same year. Jordan sang Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" at the audition and made it to next round, only to be elimiated in the semi-finals. Despite the elimination, Jordan began to expand on her musical career after her family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. While there, Jordan began uploading her songs on YouTube while submitting demos. By 2008 Jordan's YouTube page was racking up millions of views. This exposure would lead Jordan to the attention of rapper/music executive Jay-Z, who became her mentor and signed her to his Roc Nation-imprint spinoff Star Roc, and in turn resluted in her becoming a part of the Columbia Records roster.

Jordan's debut single "Happiness" was released in September 2010. In the United States, the song reached number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs, becoming Jordan's first number-one single on that chart. It also reached number one in Norway and the Netherlands, and peaked at number three in Australia and the United Kingdom. In Australia, "Happiness" was certified triple platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), for shipments of 210,000 copies.

"Good Girl" was released as Jordan's second single in February 2011. The song debuted at number six on the UK Singles Chart, giving Jordan her second top-ten hit in the United Kingdom. It also reached number fifteen in Ireland, and became her second chart-topper on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart in April. Her self-titled debut album was released on February 25, 2011. It debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number nine, and on the Australian Albums Chart at number eleven.

"Hush Hush" will be released as the album's third single on May 8, 2011. Jordan will be a supporting act on English group JLS' tour in the United Kingdom, which will commence in June 2011 and end in July. ... (more)
