Aidan James Laprete Powell was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. His "hapa" looks of ยฝ Japanese, Italian, Irish, English, German and American Indian placed him on the little screen from the age of 18 months. He continued to do commercials as a child and at 8 years old, was featured singing and playing the ukulele in an episode of "Hawaii Five-0". Through his preteens, he focused mainly on music, live performances, and touring before landing his first supporting role as teenager "Rico" in the indie feature, "Under the Blood Red Sun". Before moving to California in 2016, he was cast in a couple of short films, Train's music video, "Mermaid", and "Adam Devine's House Party". Aidan's most recent work include a Taco Bell commercial, "That Friend," "Everything's Gonna Be Ok", "Alexa and Katie" and "Chad". Aidan is portraying the role of Henry Tanaka in the upcoming second season of Amazon Prime Video's "The Wilds".
In addition to acting, music has always been a major part of Aidan's career. At 19, he is an award-winning singer-songwriter and music producer who has been creating alternative pop music with hip-hop/ambient/electronic/UK garage influences. Formerly known as Aidan James, he was a YouTube sensation at the age of 8, with over 20+ million views earning global recognition for his cover of "Hey Soul Sister". Aidan debuted his first album at the age of 14 and toured Japan, Tahiti, and the US. He has been featured on ABC News, HBO, and Good Morning America and has opened for Jack Johnson, Michael Bolton, Lisa Loeb and toured with Grammy award-winning band, Train. He was featured at BMI's Songwriting showcase and has performed at many venues including Hotel Cafe and Blue Note Hawaii. In 2020, he re-branded to Laprete and his debut production work on Grayson's album "Head To Head", received support from Billboard and multiple Spotify editorial playlists. He has produced for and worked with artists including Matisyahu, Sam Sparro, Peoria, Chosen Jacobs, Jenna Holiday, and Breana Raquel.
