His range goes from studio features like Taxi (1998/I), A Perfect Murder (1998) The Interpreter (2005) to edgy Indies like In America (2003), Pieces of April (2003) and Mail Order Wife (2004), produced by Doug Liman, in which his portrayal was so convincing that many audiences thought the film was a documentary (it wasn't).Martinez has just completed "Three Strikes," a Comedy Central pilot produced by Emmy winner Jon Stewart, and he also has been seen around the dial in over 30 TV guest spots, including "Sex and the City" (1998), "The Sopranos" (1999), all of the "Law & Orders", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (1993), "Ed" (2000), "Third Watch" (1999), "NYPD Blue" (1993) and Barry Levinson's "The Jury" (2004). Other TV work includes HBO'S Undefeated (2003) (TV), directed by John Leguizamo; Strip Search (2004) (TV), directed by Sidney Lumet; and Bad Apple (2004) (TV), opposite Chris Noth.Theatre audiences know him from his daring off-Broadway performances for the LAByrinth theater company, directed by Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman. In "Our Lady of 121st Street," Martinez portrayed to great acclaim a mentally challenged young man in search of his brother's acceptance, and played Sigmund Freud and St. Thomas in "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot" at the Public Theatre. Both plays were written by this year's Laura Pels winner, Stephen Adly Guirgis. Additionally, Martinez co-starred in "Massacre: Sing To Your Children", written by Oscar nominee Jose Rivera, for LAByrinth at the Public theatre. As for future projects, Martinez' first screenplay, "Manny," is a finalist for the 2007 Sundance screenwriters' lab. He will star and direct the film. Films in the can include a lead role in _Ted's MBA* (*Many Brief Affairs) (2006)_, co-starring Breckin Meyer; Trainwreck: My Life as an Idoit (2007), co-starring Seann William Scott; The Promotion (2008), opposite John C. Reilly; The Ministers, and lead roles in the indies Just Like the Son (2006), _Stanley Cuba (2006)_ and "Mona" (2007). "Stanley Cuba" and "Mona" have both been selected for the IFP rough cut program, led by producer Scott Macaulay (Raising Victor Vargas (2002)).
