Description:
Aaron Kosminski was a London hairdresser who has been suspected of being Jack the Ripper. Kosminski was a Polish Jew who emigrated to England from Poland in the 1880s and worked in Whitechapel in the East End of London, where the murders were committed in 1888. In 1891, he was institutionalized in an asylum.
In September 2014, mitochondrial DNA implicated Kosminski as having ejaculated semen on a shawl said to have belonged to Catherine Eddowes. This DNA was taken from a blood-stained shawl acquired by Russell Edwards and analysed by Dr Jari Louhelainen.
