I actually wanted to see this because I enjoy the story of the Rapture or pretty much anything involving apocalyptic mayhem. Now this has to be one of the oddest casts I seen put together. It has Nicolas Cage, Jordin Sparks, Martin Klebba, and Lea Thompson. The casting just doesn't make since when you have a guy who can't act, a singer who is decent, a guy who is mostly known for obnoxious comedy, and an actually talented actress. There are people bashing this for the Biblical content and I just don't think that's fair. We have had several successful Christian movies like The Passion of The Christ, The Chronicles of Narnia, Heaven is for Real, God's not Dead, and Soul Surfer just to name a few. The characters are all pretty interesting although a few of them would have been better if played by different actors. It takes about 30 minutes for what we came to see actually happens which is honestly a little too long. I don't see why chaos started off so quickly with people looting other peoples clothes. Some of the characters reactions are a little ridiculous at least in my opinion. I think there are a few pretty powerful scenes like the one that takes place in the church. It wasn't that bad. There were a few bad performances like Jordin Sparks and Nicolas Cage, but I enjoyed most of the others. I wish it dealt a little more with chaos instead of mostly being about the plane. It left me wanting more and a little disappointed that there was little room for character development. I think this could have been done in a much better way.
