Several List Ideas

An overall rating of a list.
Being able to change the color of individual items in a list.
Underneath "Create a list on this topic" you could have "Other Lists by this person"
And maybe some sort of block list option. So I never have to see certain lists ever again. ;)

By overall rating, do you mean 'out of 10'?
Some good ideas there Manling, colour scheme is a must.
I'd also like to suggest (again) classifying lists by Complete, Incomplete, Ongoing which the Creator can decide. Also it would be handy to know which lists are Semi-Private and Public so we can differentiate between the two.

Just a quick idea. Would it be possible, when looking at another person's list, to have a small bar at the bottom of the list which tells you:
1) How many items on that particular list that you've seen/heard/etc
2) The average rating you've given the items on that list
3) Maybe their average listal rating overall?
For example, I'm trying to carve my way through the films on this list, and I can't be bothered to keep counting through my progress. It'd be much easier is at the bottom it told me I'd seen 31/50 films from it. This would be particularly useful for Prelude's IMDb top 250 list, or other huge lists.
Point two would also give you more of a reason to look at other people's favourites lists. If I clicked on a new guys favourite films list and saw I'd average voted the list 9.0/10, then I'd know that guy would be welcomed into my inner circle!

Sound Idea GA.
I'd also like to see the Viewed List number featured more prominently. As at the moment, it is just a small number in the corner. This could be incorporated in the stats under a different header.
Considering all the suggestions/threads on Lists, we may need an overhaul if Tom can work it all in.

Basically the same thing that Grand Assault put in his thread
2) The average rating you've given the items on that list
But while I was thinking for personal lists, Grand Assault is thinking for other people's lists.

I've got another one.
Tom has this handy little thingy off to the side when you are exploring lists.

I'd be excited to see some of these ideas in action... well, Tom?

I would like to implement many of these ideas.
I've merged the other list thread in with this one

It would be nice if a search terms matches the titles of a list, that list would show up on top in different color, sort of how actors and director names, if searched for, appear ahead of movie results.
For example, if 'Tomb Raider' is searched, all Tomb Raider search results show up, but show 'Tomb Raider series' list from List-All at the very top of search results. If space is concern, show only top voted list, with text links to 'show all lists with 'tomb raider'

The option to search through lists is a necessity. I always hesitate when making a list as I get the gut feeling that it must've already been done by someone somewhere already. I don't want to be treading on anyone's toes! Likewise if I want to link to work done by other people, it'd be handy searching for eg 'World War' and seeing what War lists there are out there to link to from my own list.
I'd put it underneath all the search results though, as I think people will always use the search for primarily finding media items in the database. Any update on any of these list features, Tomster?

Some lists can take a really really long time to load because of all the fancy html and stuff, so can there an option to turn that off once in a while?
No offense, they look great and all but it can take a while to load. Perhaps turn off the images as well? Or perhaps make it set so only a set amount of items are shown per page, and have the option to view all or w/e? When a list gets to be over hundred or so it gets to be a dangerous beast, with html or not.
I mean if other parts of the site can offer different Display Modes, why can't the Lists as well?

You can search list titles already just select lists from the dropdown menu at the top right! I do agree though having list search integrated into the main search would be nice.

This would be very interesting!
Also, how about a "view all" link at the bottom of the list box in the user's main page?! Similar to what we see in the videos box ( # videos in total - view all ) ? :)

Has anyone else got anything to add to this topic? :-)

I have added related lists on a list page yesterday, basic at the moment but it's better than nothing. I will be doing a update to lists soon which will include many of these suggestions.

Toooooooooooooooom...
Any news on this yet? I'd love the little bar at the bottom which gives you your personal stats on other people's lists.

As well as Manlings idea of changing the colour of some of the boxes of list items, would it be possible to have a few more text options as well? Maybe a few different colours?
Also, Prelude suggested ages ago that a 'quick code' kind of box get implemented, so instead of me clicking on the groups section to copy and paste a code I could never remember, I could just click the 'img' code (for example) and it would appear in my note box. That's a good idea :)
