I was wondering how you can get your lists and or posts promoted, it seems like everyone else gets tons of comments and votes except me, any advice

Four things get your lists/reviews noticed the most, from my experience. I don't know about images or videos, but I think images are too rapidly voted on to warrant front page promotion and videos are the same as lists and reviews.
1) When you've just published a list/review, everyone can see it in the "Recently published" section of Explore Lists & Reviews. You'll want to make sure you don't publish it until it's good and ready with notes explaining why each item is on the list and a nice description, as that'll increase the chance users will vote on it.
2) When three members vote on a list or review, it gets promoted to the front page and, if Listal users as a whole take to it, it'll receive most of its votes this way.
3) If you have enough people following you, they'll vote on it whenever they see you've recently published a list or check your lists from your profile. Members like KCenturion, Nonfictionguy, Hyomil, and myself include on our profiles what we of the Listal community like to call a "List Showcase", where we link to what we believe are our most deserving lists.
4) If you receive enough votes in any of these ways, when others look under the "Lists" section of an item's page, they'll see your list near to the top. Voting and commenting on other people's items doesn't hurt any in getting them to check out your stuff, as they're likely to become interested in you and your material as a result.
There are lots of members who struggle to keep up with some of the site's more popular listers, but we all start out at the same place. Best advice is to take pride in doing quality lists (not that you don't already) and the site will notice you in time.
Hope that helps ya! =)

We need a thread on advertising lists outside of listal. I will be making the listal Index ie List of Lists (of lists). In the end if you are out of ideas borrow an IP address and make an alternate profile to give yourself votes. Also useful if u have too many friends or bad ratings and need to get better recommendations.

As for promoting one's content outside of Listal to get more votes and draw people to the site, I think widgets with notes would be a good way to achieve this. I came up with two. Pardon my crummy handwriting, but I've sketched out the concepts for anyone who's interested:

Tom told me he thought they'd work, but he'd need someone to code the flash for them.

Widgets are a completely foreign concept for me.
The only place i can imagine putting it is facebook.
But what about that stumblupon button and those 30 bookmarking sites?

I've noticed a heavy twitter user, tokyosushibar, tweets a lot of lists I and others have made. But when I click on the number of tweets for a list like, say, Greatest Giant Monsters/Robots, it takes me to a Twitter search with the link of the list as the search term. Does this mean his Twitter posts of said lists have been deleted, or is it a glitch? I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with Twitter deleting older tweets, since this guy is very active.
EDIT: I just checked and it appears as if it only affects older tweets. Check a list like What happened to him/her? and it works fine.
Also, I'm not familiar with StumbleUpon. Does having a StumbleUpon review made of one's list mean someone could potentially give your item a bad review?

First, a note: Half of what my Listal Index list is supposed to do would be better served by list tagging...
Second search for monetization tiers (no quotes) on google. Whats the second result?
ummm... i dont have much to contribute to this discussion atm.

I think Listal tags could be helpful. Just like how YouTube filters their searches based on both descriptions and tags, Listal could do something similar. Though if someone includes an adequate title/description it shouldn't be needed. Unfortunately, sometimes titles are more suggestive of their content to try and hook you and not as straightforward, and often descriptions aren't included or are very brief. Thus, I'd welcome tagging and search filtering based on them.
