Movie Release Date Error

When selecting the "Release date - Asc" or the "Release date - Desc" option when looking at my movie collection, a significant number of the films are listed out of order. For instance, some are listed even in the wrong decade, despite having the correct year of release beside the title. Can this be fixed please?

IMDb uses US release dates for arranging films, too, but I don't see as many films out of order.

At least for some of the titles out of order, I guess the problem lies in the parentheses after the USA release date on IMDb.com, that usually refer to limited releases.

When such titles are imported to Listal, this may lead to either
Type 1. Listal showing correct year but incorrect release date
or
Type 2. Listal not showing any release date
or
Type 3. Listal showing correct release date but no year
or
Type 4. Listal showing year and release date from non-US releases.

Type 1:

Orphans of the Storm (1921)

Listal year: 1921.
WRONG Release date on Listal: 11 January 2015

Joan of Arc's example also shows that Listal did NOT get the "year" from the US release date, which was 1929 not 1928.



By the way, these titles are out of order in Listal collection sorting by release date, but they would seem to be sorted correctly when added to a custom list, see my test list.

Type 2:

Looks like they are "short" films, so there is the word "short" in parentheses too, in IMDb listings!

The Pandora example shows that in this case Listal got the release date from the earlier general (non limited) release, which was in Japan.

P.s.

Maybe Collection date-sorting would look better if it was made like the Custom list date-sorting is made, that is to say by just YEAR, not complete Release date which is more often completely wrong or missing.
