Listal User Opinions - Platforms You'd Like to See

This thread exists purely to see what kinds of potential platforms you guys would like to have added to the database. The current primary platforms are Movies, TV Shows, DVDs, Music, Books, Games, and miscellaneous ones for those persons involved with these (Actors/Actresses for Movies and TV, Music Artists for Music, Authors for Books, Directors for Movies and TV).
I'll start:
1) Comics/Magazines - It'd be neat to list the publications one is subscribed to and the individual issues owned from them. Vote on the suggestion here.
2) Characters - The IMDb database already has Actors/Actresses assigned to their respective characters, so I'd think this would be fairly easy to implement. Many lists of Actors on Listal are essentially character lists. Vote on the suggestion here.
3) Collectibles - This would have a similar function to Comics/Magazines - one item with individual items that can be checked off. For example, action figure waves and baseball cards. Vote on the suggestion here.
4) Websites - I don't think I'm the only one who wants Websites added as a platform. Obviously, not every specific link (ex: Something.com/anything/anything-at-all.htm ) needs to be added, but primary links (Something.com) could be made use of in creative ways. Vote on the suggestion here.
5) Electronics - I believe this one's already set to be added. Basically, it would cover I-devices, GPS systems, MP3 Players, and so on. Vote on the suggestion here.
6) Food/Drinks - Think of the possibilities! Recipe lists. Shopping lists. Hot Sauce Collection lists. Er, maybe that last one is just me, but... I think this has potential. Vote on the suggestion here.
...so, if you'd like, back-up/comment on these previous platform ideas and share some of your own. I'm interested in what contributions others might have.

I would like to see 1, 3 and 5 added. The only other thing I could think of would be Musical Instruments and Equipment.

I'd be all for electronics, mostly. Comics would be nice, but I have a feeling it'd get messy reeeeeallly fast, esp. w/o some kind of main series entry, sub-volume listings (for series that have been rebooted constantly), related series, etc.

Woah! At the moment, the Books, DVD and Music sections are an absolute shambles, how about tidying those up and proving that content can be adequately ordered before moving on to adding other subsections to the site?
For example, I want to find the author of Harry Potter, how many clones does she have?
www.listal.com/authors/search/Rowling
Even with a bit of Sherlockian deduction, I don't know which one of these guys wrote books on the great detective:
www.listal.com/authors/search/conan%20doyle
Almost every album in the database has replicas for no reason... It's a big mess and it has been neglected for years.

^ Tom's planning on doing a mass merging of the Music section. I wouldn't be surprised if the same were true for Books as well. (Source, just in case you're interested - go to post three). Vote for the Music/Artists suggestion here and the Books/Authors suggestion here.
That's a good point. I guess it could go one of two routes: A) separate main series for each volume, or B) sub-sections within the main entry, which could make the item a little cluttered but would also allow for one big entry encompassing the whole run. Then again, some of these publications go for hundreds of issues, meaning a new entry for each volume separation might be easier. I dunno - it depends on what the users want.

There is a reason, when I have suggested merging duplicate albums into one entry many people have complained that they want to list separate versions they own. This means some kind of merging is possible but it's a lot more complicated than the system done for games.
If I was doing the music section from scratch I would use a database source other than amazon which has only 1 entry per album, unfortunately years ago there weren't many options available.

WEBSITES ! WEBSITES !
Just make a Misc. section to start with. Just make it like book and game input and make the people tab just Misc. connection too.
It would filter by tags and on that note pls allow filtering by multiple tags when looking at top "rated" lists.
Afterward, when you decide to make specific platforms, make a port-and-delete button.
Imagine Listal as a tool not for a specific community but for all those communities on the web that need a list, recomender and collection keeping tool. Right now i am making a list for the free MMORPG community with intent to post it on the same boards i do the research.
Here is another platform: Youtube videos. The recomender here will be better that youtube's own rating and views.
But this topic has been brought up before. I am pretty sure just duplicating the code for the books layout to make Misc. section would be easier than combining all the duplicates. But we wont get a peep...
I take it Tom is working on a thing that adds all assets and attributes from one entry to another and then deletes the original? (only for mods to use when annoyed). This is obviously harder than making distinct new categories like food electronics websites.

i voted for 4 and 6 i had those too

Thanks!
I may have said this before, but I can see adding these platforms attracting lots of different kinds of internet users to the site, hopefully distilling some of the activity that current users don't like with something new (though probably introducing new difficulties as well).
Food/Drinks and Comics & Collectibles are niches with such devoted followers and adding them as platforms could bring said followers' own styles to the site.
Ultimately, I'm glad whenever the site is updated, so you won't see me putting on a sad face if these don't come around for a while. =]

I like the idea of a collectibles section.
Also, it might just be me but there don't seem to be any decent sites on the net dedicated to comedians and live performances of comedians/plays/musicals etc.
I am a huge fan of stand up comedians and seeing live action plays, and feel that this site could really benefit from adding this and could entice new users in.

You know, I've actually had this thought in the back of my head for a while now of how cool it would be to have a Theater section for plays and musicals. Comedians would be cool too!
I agree that there aren't many sites with a focus on the above. I think Listal has the opportunity to capture a good cohort of people who would use some of the features in this thread, before someone else gets to it.
@ran88dom99: You're a miscellaneous, my friend! (I kid, I kid.)

I've added a question on facebook: www.facebook.com/questions/10150414871744628/?qa_ref=ssp
